Ohana Music Together's History in the Islands
Ohana Music Together has been serving the local community since 2003. The focus of our center is to bring the joy of family music making to all families with children from birth through age five and the adults who love them.
When we began teaching the Music Together® program in Hawaii, we had eight families in our first class. We rented a room from a town association that first semester and by our second semester we had two full classes. As word got out, we increased the number of classes each semester and now we have two bustling locations. We have our own studio in Pearl City and we rent a classroom from The Growing Nest at The Shops at Ward Warehouse. In our six years of operation, we've shared The Joy of Family Music© with over 2,000 Oahu families.
Our director, Becky Andrew, has made regular appearances on "Building Blocks for Tots" on KHON2 and The CW as "The Music Expert". Check out the video in our video-links section!
Music Together® is growing in the islands! Ohana Music Together has hosted two teacher trainings at our Pearl City studio, and two people who attended those trainings have since opened new Music Together centers on Kauai and the Big Island! Yet another director has just opened a Music Together Center on Maui. So, Music Together is continuing to grow throughout the islands, adding to the nearly 2,000 communities served worldwide by Music Together centers.
